- Lithium Battery Innovation Challenge [challengewaste.com.au] – WRIQ led a state-wide initiative to address one of the fastest-growing risks in waste management: lithium-ion battery fires. The challenge unearthed cutting-edge solutions that help facilities detect, isolate and suppress fires before they spread, keeping workers safe and protecting infrastructure.
- Queensland Hot Load Procedure – Developed and successfully trialled by WRIQ across the state, this safety framework provides a standardised response for fires and chemical reactions in collection vehicles.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP
To be eligible for Corporate Membership, the applicant’s core business activity should be contracting to federal, state or local government, or the private sector, to provide services relating to sanitation, waste management, recycling, materials processing, resource management, demolition, waste transport or disposal or other related disciplines, including in the state of Queensland. This membership category is suited to any business that has its core operations in the waste industry.
2025 – 2026 Fees (inc GST)
- A+: 200+ employees – $19,850
- A: 100-200 employees – $11,900
- B: 51-100 employees – $7,650
- C: 26-50 employees – $5,250
- D: 16-25 employees – $3,400
- E: 9-15 employees – $1,700
- F: 1-8 employees – $850
ASSOCIATE (BUSINESS) MEMBERSHIP
Associate (business) members may partner with a waste company as part of its core activities or supply products and services the waste industry as part of their wider operations.

- Emerging and Start-Up – $650
- Industry Supplier/Partner – $2,500
- Council <10,000 households – $2,000
- Council 10-30,000 households – $3,300
- Council >30,000 households – $4,600
