Member Forum: Workforce Insights & Industry Discussion

Join WRIQ members and industry leaders for an evening of workforce insights, industry discussion and networking focused on the key challenges facing Queensland’s waste and recycling sector.
Featuring economist Nick Behrens, Director at Queensland Australian Economic Advocacy Solutions (QEAS), the forum will explore emerging workforce trends, labour shortages, competition for skilled workers and the operational pressures impacting industry businesses across Queensland.
The event will also include an open member discussion and an industry update from WRIQ CEO Alison Price, offering members an opportunity to share perspectives, discuss current challenges and connect with peers from across the sector. The discussion will draw on findings from WRIQ’s recent economic contribution andworkforce research, including insights from industry employers and workers across Queensland.
Topics will include:
- workforce shortages and recruitment pressures
- retaining skilled operators and drivers
- competition for labour across sectors
- training and workforce capability needs
- future industry growth and operational challenges
The evening will conclude with informal networking drinks and canapés.
